Blog.....
.....blog.
Blog, blog, blog.
Funny word. Oh, well. It's all over the web, and I might as well embrace it.
Truthfully, I love to write. But, there's no money it to support a family. So, this may be an outlet for the written word when I'm not being a husband, dad, or employee.
My only fear is ending up like Joey Tribiani on "Friends." When he was Dr. Drake Romarey (I know my spellings are wrong...), he wanted his own apartment so he could be alone with his thoughts. Then, "I found out I didn't have quite so many..." or something like that.
[Just know this - I type like I talk. I'll try to be conversational, as not to bore anybody. And, I may very well let down Mrs. Hoar (7th & 8th grade English - get past the name, she was an awesome teacher), and Mrs. Williams by seemingly butchering proper sentences.]
So - where do we begin?
How about we begin with a truth. "I'm deeply flawed, but deeply loved." If you're my friend on Facebook, you'll recognize that from my profile. I think it not only describes me, but also a lot of others out there. We all have short-comings. We all have times when we wish we could just reach out and grab the words that we threw out there, reeling them back in and wishing they didn't do the damage they'd done. Who hasn't stayed up all night, wishing that they wouldn't turn into their parents, or wished they could be more like their parents? Folks - we could go on all night with this.
But, the bottom line is that we're all screwed up a little. Or alot. Regardless of who we were in the past, who we are now, or who we fear we'll become, we're also deeply loved. I'm really the last person that should be pointing this out. I'm terribly bad at embracing forgiveness and healing. I'll tell you all day long how valuable you are and how much you mean to God and how forgiving He is. Because - well - you do mean a lot to Him and He has forgiven us. He's that frickin' rad to pour out His love on His kids. I, however, will joke about how God loves you and He tolerates me. How messed up is that?
So, join the club of the deeply flawed. We're all in it, whether we admit it or not.
And, reach out to be deeply loved. He's there waiting for us. "...to see the crying boys come running back to His arms, and be growing young..." -Rich Mullins.
